Kalles Track Team

Run as one, work as a team, finish as a family.

Welcome to the Kalles track team! We are excited to have you join us for a season of fun, fitness, and teamwork.  There are no tryouts or cuts.  Participating on the track and field team gives the student-athlete a chance to become part of something bigger than themselves, meet new friends, and challenge oneself.  Life skills such as responsibility, commitment, giving maximum effort, and sportsmanship are practiced each day.  Every 7th and 8th grade student may join the track and field team if they meet the eligibility requirements described in the student athlete handbook. Let’s have a great season!

·         Be on time.  Practice begins in the gym at 2:10 and we expect everyone out in the gym ready to go every day at practice. If you            are getting help in a class, bring a note. If you are late without an excuse, you will not be permitted to practice that day.

o   100% participation, no part time.

·         Athletes are required to attend 8 practices to be eligible to compete.  If more than 3 practices, in a row are missed, the athlete must begin accumulating 8 practices again before they are allowed to compete. Watching practice does not count.

·         Follow the Athletic Code--If you are found guilty of breaking the code, (using alcohol, or drug use, etc…) you will be removed from the team.

·         Stealing, vandalism, and/or violence will result in removal from the team.

·         Always respect and support all athletes, coaches, staff, officials, fans, other teams and parents.  Good sportsmanship is a must.

·         Make a strong effort in getting to know all your teammates.  Be involved!

·         Bring a POSITIVE ATTITUDE with you to every practice and meet.  Always try your best.  Practice is not a punishment, it is a way to improve.

·         Everyone on the team is a role model to someone so make sure you are a positive one.

·         Remember you are representing yourself, your family, your team, your school, and your community.  Don't let your team down.  Make them proud!

·         This team is a place where every member will feel safe and supported.  Bullying of any type will not be tolerated.

·         Track and Field is a completely voluntary activity where essential skills may be acquired.  If you need to be coerced to practice, you      should find something else to do.

  • Parents are not allowed on the field during practices.
  • Athletes must attend school and practice the day before, the day of, and the day after a meet.
  • If you are in PE during the track season, participation in PE class is required daily.
  • Missing school or practice around meet days leads to ineligibility for the meet.
  • Skipping practice results in sitting out the next meet; a second offense results in potential removal from the team.
  • Personal communication with the coach is required if a player will be absent, late, or leave practice early. Email, message via Final Forms or phone contact is needed if sick.
  • Track is the top commitment over other activities. Athletes must attend all meets and demonstrate sportsmanship toward teammates, opponents, and officials.
