Welcome to the team, everyone! We're here to grow stronger together, push our limits, and support each other every step of the way. Let's work hard, have fun, and make this season one to remember!

Clearance:  Every athlete must be cleared! Don’t wait until the last minute!

· EVERY athlete must be cleared through Final Forms before the first day of practice. The process is explained on the main Kalles Athletic Website.

·       Final forms:  https://puyallup-wa.finalforms.com/ or the KJH athletics page.

·       Once your player makes the team please pay fees:  ASB ($30) and Athletic ($50 per sport) fees via InTouch         (https://intouch.puyallup.k12.wa.us).

·       Cash and Check payments may be made through the school’s office manager, but InTouch saves time! 

·       Free and Reduced application information is available on the PSD website: (https://secure.ezmealapp.com/ApplicationScreen.aspx)

·       Baseline concussion screening will now be handled at practice free of charge!  No need to obtain a screening before the first practice, we will take care of this for every athlete that needs a new test.

 

Tryouts

•  October 27th Basketball begins, 2:00-4:20, after school in the gym
  • First three practices are considered tryouts.
  • Tryouts are closed. No parents or siblings allowed in the gym.
  • Not being cleared in time for try-outs will negatively impact the chances of making the team.

Tryout Schedule

• October 27th: 2:00–4:20 p.m.
• October 28th: 2:00–4:20 p.m. (possible cuts for 7^th graders depending on numbers- posted on Schoology by 7 p.m
• October 29th: 2:00–4:20 p.m. Team selections will be posted in Schoology by 7:00 p.m. (Closed group for athletes only)

 

Practices

• Regular Practice: Starts October 30th  2:00 – 4:20 p.m. (Detailed schedules will be handed out)
• November 26th-28th, No Practice due to no school
• Last game is on December 18th at Aylen Jr High
• Also note, if school were cancelled due to weather, storms, etc practices are also cancelled. 
• Leaving Early from Practice- If your child needs to leave practice early, please submit a written request in advance. Note that there is no early locker room access.

 Parent and Player Meeting: November 4^th : 3:45 p.m. in the gym immediately following practice.

 

Games

• Check the most up-to-date game times, locations and opponents on Arbiter Live.com.
• Varsity games begin at 3:00 p.m., with the JV warm-up and game starting immediately after. (One flipped game where JV starts at 3:00 and Varsity follows)

 

Transportation

• Practices: Ensure your athlete is picked up NO LATER than 4:30 p.m.
• Activity Bus: District provided transportation for student who live in the Kalles attendance area.  The bus departs from Kalles between 4:40 and 4:50 p.m. Ensure your child knows their address.
• There will NOT be an activity bus on Fridays OR Game Days.
• Game Days: Students take the bus to away games. The bus will also bring players back to Kalles after the match. However, parents can take their player home, but they MUST sign their player out with one of the coaches.

 

Equipment

• Provided by School: Game Jersey and shorts- Replacement cost $75 if lost
• Practice Jerseys: To be worn at practice after cuts are made with your own shorts- Replacement cost $40
• Do Not Bring: Personal Basketball
• Personal water bottle

 

Attendance and Participation

·       Participation in practices is required for team membership. Lack of participation may result in removal from the team.

·       Attendance at school is also mandatory to compete in meets.

·       Missing the day before or the day of a meet will result in ineligibility to participate.

 

Locker Room Access

Lockers will be issued during the first week of practice. Locker room access is available from 2:00 to 2:10 p.m. and 4:25 to 4:35 p.m. only. There is no early access.

 

Leaving Early from Practice

If your child needs to leave practice early, please notify the coaches in advance (prior to day of). Note that there is no early locker room access so please plan accordingly.

 

Rules and Eligibility

WIAA Rules Set by the State of Washington:

• Athletes must complete 8 practices before competing against another school.
• Athletes must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to remain eligible.
• Athletes must pass five of six classes to participate in a sport.

 

Expectations

• Athletes must attend school and practice the day before, the day of, and the day after a game.
• Participation in PE class during basketball season is required.
• Missing school or practice around game days leads to ineligibility for the game.
• Skipping practice results in sitting out the next game; a second offense results in potential removal from the team.
• Personal contact with the coach is required if a player will be absent, late, or leave practice early. Email or phone contact is needed if sick.
• Basketball is the top commitment over other activities. Athletes must attend all matches and demonstrate sportsmanship toward teammates, opponents, and officials.
• Behavior issues or negative attitudes can impact playing time or result in dismissal from the program.
• Athletes must be off campus within 15 minutes of practice and home games ending or after arriving back from away games.
• Students are required to have an ASB Card and pay the athletic fee once they make the team.

 

Spirit Packs

• Optional t-shirts and sweatshirts available for order. More information will be provided to selected teams.
