Welcome to the Tyee Football Family!
We are excited for the fall season and the opportunity to coach your sons. Please complete the Final Forms clearance process to participate in Kalles football. Practice starts on the first day of school, so make sure to complete the clearance process in advance. Don’t wait until the last minute!
Practice Schedule:
- First Day: August 24th
- Gear Handout: August 21 (Meet by the designated area; details to be announced)
- Practices: After school at Kalles Jr. High from 2:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on non-game days.
- Pickup Time: Please ensure your student-athlete is picked up by 4:30 p.m.
Note: Football is a team sport that requires dedication. Being late or absent negatively affects the team. Please ensure your child is only late or absent in case of an emergency.
Note: Preseason Conditioning is : August 18th- 20th; 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm
Preparation:
- Be cleared through Final Forms.
- Ensure all fees are paid through InTouch, ASB and Sport Fee.
- Ensure your athlete is well-hydrated, physically fit, and ready to compete with proper nutrition and hydration.
Equipment Needed:
- Mouthpiece: Form the mouthpiece properly before physical contact to prevent injuries, including concussions.
- Cleats: Wear proper cleats for grass practices and games.
- Uniform: Game and practice gear will be provided.
- Helmet: Helmets will be fitted at the beginning of practice sessions.
- Only school issued equipment can be used during practice and games. Players are responsible for their own equipment and if lost they will be fined for its new replacement.
- New this year. only one mouthpiece can be attached to the helmet and face mask.
Injuries
- If any injuries occur during practice or games, notify the coaches immediately.
Game Schedule
- Check the most up-to-date game times, locations and opponents on Arbiter Live.
- Varsity (8th) and JV (7th) will play at opposite locations, but always check Arbiter.
Practice and Weather Policy
We practice in all weather conditions, so come prepared. Always wear appropriate athletic clothing and shoes. Please leave phones and other valuables in your lockers.
Attendance and Participation
Participation in practices is required for team membership. Lack of participation may result in removal from the team. Attendance at school is also mandatory to compete in meets. Missing the day before or the day of a meet will result in ineligibility to participate.
Locker Room Access
Lockers will be issued during the first week of practice. Locker room access is available from 2:00 to 2:15 p.m. and 4:00 to 4:15 p.m. only. There is no early access. Athletes will keep their gear in their locker.
Leaving Early from Practice
If your child needs to leave practice early, please submit a written request in advance. Note that there is no early locker room access.
Transportation
- Practices: Ensure your athlete is picked up by 4:30 p.m. The ACTIVITY BUS will drop off students living in the Kalles area at their homes. Be sure your athlete knows their address.
- Game Days: Students take the bus to and from away games. Parents should pick up their child at Kalles after the bus returns. If you need to take your child home directly, notify the coach through Final Forms.
- Note: Transportation is not available on some days, so plan accordingly.
- Activity Bus: Departs between 4:20 and 4:40 p.m. Ensure your child knows their address.
Rules and Eligibility
WIAA Rules Set by the State of Washington:
- All athletes must have three non-contact practices before participating in contact practices (no shoulder pads).
- Athletes must complete 12 practices before competing against another school.
- Athletes must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to remain eligible.
Player Expectations
- Student-athletes are expected to always represent Kalles positively.
- Parents are not allowed on the field during practices.
- Athletes must attend school and practice the day before, the day of, and the day after a game.
- Participation in PE class during football season is required.
- Missing school or practice around game days leads to ineligibility for the game.
- Skipping practice results in sitting out the next game; a second offense results in removal from the team.
- Personal contact with the coach is required if a player will be absent, late, or leave practice early. Email, message via Final Forms or phone contact is needed if sick.
- Football is the top commitment over other activities. Athletes must attend all games and demonstrate sportsmanship toward teammates, opponents, and officials.
- Behavior issues or negative attitudes can impact playing time or result in dismissal from the program.
- Athletes must be off campus within 15 minutes of practice and home games ending or after arriving back from away games.
- No activity buses are available on game days.
